Finding happiness at work

Many people go through life trying to find a happy medium between their home and work life. Often this medium can not be found. Jobs often demand more time than a parent has which may cause them to be unhappy and even feel guilty. A job that leaves employees just scraping by leads to unhappiness as well. When a job makes you miserable you feel incomplete, guilty, depressed, etc. Knowing life will be terrible with a job you hate how can you find happiness at work?

If you are unhappy with your current job and are in a postion for a change of position or company consider the idea of being able to better yourself. If you can change jobs and do something you enjoy or earn more money you can be persuade to like your job better. Having a job you like makes the day fly by where as something you do not like will make it crawl. More money is usually a sure bet you can find a way to do a job you may not be in love with and even be a little happy about it.

If you are not in the positon to be able to negotiate your job or your pay you need to find a way to adopt a different mindset than you currently have. When you have negative thoughts about your job counter act each one with something positive, for example if you are thinking I make very little money in this job for long hours counter that thought with I am making money in which a lot of people are not because of health reasons or the lack of jobs and I "can" pay my bills and feed my family. If you can find good in the job you have it is easier to be there each day.

Reward yourself for the job you do. If you are meeting the bills splurge on a new outfit or item you want. If you do not have the money for a splurge that large take the children out for ice cream or go out to dinner with your spouse. A bit of enjoyment can relax the tension of hating your job. You are smart enough to realize you may not love the job but without it these little treats would not be possible. Rewards may even lead you to appreciate the job you have.

Make friends with coworkers on the job. Friends at work can make going in to work each day a little easier. Friends may also have ideas on how to deal with your feelings about your job. Many of your coworkers may feel the same as you do. By making friends you have someone to talk to who can relate to what you are feeling. Friends can make the day go by faster by sharing ideas, insight, and when appropriate even a bit of humor. If is fine to have friends of both genders but do not allow yourself to become
