President Obama has failed this country when it comes to the economy. I am not saying that the decline of the economy was the fault of President Obama or President Bush. When push comes to shove, in the end the President has little power in comparison to the powers of Congress. The President can do almost nothing without the approval of Congress. Congress can however, do anything without the approval of the President.
The fall of our economy began, politically at least, when President Carter got the Government involved in the Housing market in 1977. In 1999 President Clinton doubled-down on that deal. In 2005 it was the Bush administration and other Republicans in Congress that warned of the possibility of the crashing of the Housing market. It was Democrats sitting in Congress, such as Barney Franks and Maxine Waters, that went in front of Congress and testified under oath that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were completely stable and in no danger of collapse.
I will concede that President Obama inherited a lousy economy. It has done nothing but get worse under his leadership. He spent the first several months of his term in office forcing a healthcare bill on the American People and used the poor economy as a back-drop to try and scare people into backing his plan. He focused very little on the economy itself. When he did focus on it it was not for the good of the people.
He had the Government take control of a Car manufacturing Company, then he had the CEO fired. When he finally gives up Government control of the company, he doesn't give it back to the shareholders, he gives majority control to the Unions. People are elated to hear that plants will be opening back up so people can get back to work. Too bad those 2 plants were ones that hadn't been built yet. Too bad the people that were going to work in those plants weren't the people that had been laid off. These plants were to be built in Mexico where labor is cheaper and the engines would be more affordable.
In January of 2008 while campaigning Obama plainly stated that under his direction and proposals, energy prices would "skyrocket" for the American people because he would force coal and Natural Gas facilities to retro fit their plants, costing as much as 8 trillion dollars, that would certainly be
