Poetry: A stretch and a purr

by Supriya Zen

Created on: September 23, 2011

Basking under the sun, it's just me and my cat,
swinging in my chair, I stroke her and pat,
She is small, delicate, playful and furry,
suddenly shakes up and jumps off my lap in a hurry.
Walks through the door, with all house to her own,
as a lioness a true diva walking with a silver hairy thorn.
Looking for something, I guess she is hungry,
squeaking rats hid behind as an act of mockery.
Her eye twinkles with joy as she finds her little delight,
eats a copious meal like a giant, quenching her appetite.
All elated, licks what is left till the last drop,
her whiskers are all sticky which she wipes off.
Content and satisfied now she is ready for a nap,
slowly comes to me and hangs to get on my lap.
Stretching and twitching her paws she yawns,
quivering her tail she purrs and bites her claws.
My little diva is now sleepy and dozy,
warmth and nurture makes her feel cozy.
