Poetry: The magic of my pen

by Natasha Austin

Created on: September 23, 2011

I move words on a page
Webpage or printer paper
Notebook paper or construction
It matters not

I move words with my hands
Like a magician
I rearrange letters and position words by touch
Like they are three dimensional pieces of clay
And they obey my hand’s commands

I pick letters and words up
Right off a page
Put them in their proper places
Like redecorating a room
‘Til everything is just so
Put the pieces of a puzzle together
‘Til I have one finished piece that tells an awesome story

I speak
With an entity
Male, female, somewhere in between
Discuss my gift
Help me, please, I say, desperate
And my questions were as a servant
Asking his master what it was he wanted
His wish my command
But words obey my will

I am the magic maker
I gently place the delicate black symbols
Where they are called to be
I know I have magic to make
And that is why I am here

I am a word magician
And I make magic on a page

Words become reality

I breathe into them, they are whole and complete
