Did Jesus appear to the Virgin Mary during the forty days between His Resurrection and Ascension?

Of course Jesus appeared to his mother during the 40 days between his resurrection and ascension. She was his mother after all, and there is no factual documentation that theirs was not a loving, nurturing mother/son relationship. It makes perfect sense, and the Holy Bible confirms that it is so. Accounts leading up to the Resurrection definitely infer Mary's presence with the many women following Jesus. It is also true and of great significance that Mary was among the first that Jesus went to see after he came back to life.

According to John's account in John 19:25-27 she was present at the cross just prior to His death: "Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home." Jesus showed great care for his mother in appointing John as her son, who would provide for her and keep her from poverty after Jesus left. If Jesus' mother was "from that hour" living in John's (that disciple's) home, would she not be among the other women at the tomb? (All Bible reference in this writing is from the King James Version Bible.)

Mark 15 states that after Jesus "gave up the ghost" in verse 37, "There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome; (who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem." (Verses 40, 41) Most Bible scholars agree that whenever James the less (meaning the younger) is referenced, it is Jesus' brother James being referred to. This Scripture also confirms that there was a group of women who traveled with Jesus and his disciples, supporting and serving them throughout their ministry. It appears that Jesus' mother was a member of that group, and quite expectantly, with them nearly every where they went.

The gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John each tell the story and details of Jesus' life a bit differently. This is probably because everyone understands and processes information in a different way. For example, a police detective interviews six eye-witnesses to the same crime. No two accounts are exactly the same; they are seen from differing perspectives. We also need to take
