Jiangsu also known as Su province in China is one of the finest spots for tourists in the country. Located in the middle of China’s eastern coastline on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River this is also known as the Yangzi or Chang Jiang River. Its capital is Nanjing, a major tourist attraction site.
It is also one of the most developed regions in china with a booming economy. The province covers an area of about 106,200 square kilometers with a population of approximately 70,205,400 people. The climate of the province is very favorable providing hot summers and warm winters suitable for tourism.
Jiangsu is also very prominent in agricultural production and has been dubbed as the “land of fish and rice”. It is also important to note that Jiangsu has more historical and cultural cities than any of the seven provinces in China. Jiangsu is one of the most populated provinces in China and is occupied by different ethnic groups including the Man, Hui and Han as well as many others. It is also known for its numerous rivers and lakes.
Tourists would find Jiangsu very interesting. There are many places of historic interest in Jiangsu and over thirty of them have been put under state protection as scenic attractions. There are also four national areas and seven provincial scenic areas in the province.
Because of its rich history, Jiangsu is the place to be for inquisitive tourists. Its capital Nanjing is home to the popular six feudal dynasties which are also historical sites.
The dynasties are: Suzhou which is known for its amazing and classical gardens, Wuxi for the beautiful landscape of the Taihu Lake, Yangzhou which is very rich in culture and is known for the culture of the Han and Tang dynasties, Zhenjiang which is home to the popular mountains and temples, Changzhou is the site for ancient towns, Yixing which is known for pottery, caves, bamboo groves and tea, Xuzhou another cultural rich area for the culture of the Han and Qin regimes, Lianyungang which provides a beautiful view of the yellow sea, Nantong the place of views, provides beautiful sceneries of the numerous rivers and seas, Changshu, home to the famous temples in the mountains and lastly Huai'an, for the sites of noted personages.
Tours around can be carried out by a dragon boat on the great ancient Grand Canal or by bicycle. Either way, knowledge of the oriental culture or lives in the rural area would be gained. Other places of interest include museums, Xuzhou city, The Great wall which is also known as the ancient Great Channel, Yuntai Mountains, Yu Shan and many more.
