Ten tips for parents to help their children avoid teen pregnancy

Ten tips to help your child avoid teen pregnancy:
1. Communication - talk to them about sex and let them know that there are myths out there such as: "you can't get pregnant the first time you have sex", or other such nonsense.
2. Teach them about the consequences of having a baby as a teen.
3. Responsibility - expect them to be responsible to let you know where they are at all times, who they are with and when they will be home.
4. Know their friends - invite their friends over to the house and talk with them. Get to know them and especially get to know the boys, if you have a daughter.
5. Tell all boys who date your daughters that you will kill them if they get your daughter pregnant! That totally scares off all the "Riff-Raff".
6. Take them to volunteer at a home for Un-wed Teen mothers.
7. Set up an interview with one of the teen mothers there.
8. Have them research the costs of having a baby and then the costs of weekly caring for an infant.
9. Let them know that you would prefer they practice abstenance, but if they are going to have sex anyway, to be safe and use a condom or birth control.
10. Let them know how much you love them and how important they are to you.
