What to make with leftover chicken? When you start cooking with chicken you get to understand how versatile and lean this meat is. Chicken has a very delicate flavor, subtle aroma and is a very tender meat. Chicken lends itself to many quick and easy dishes that will satisfy the most fickle eaters. You do not have to be very clever or even a very good cook to turn good, wholesome, ready to eat, leftover chicken into another wonderful meal the whole family will be looking forward to eating.
Because the leftover chicken is already cooked it is easy to add to an any meal. Just remove any fat , bones and skin from the chicken. Then slice or dice the chicken ready to be used. Often when adding already cooked chicken to other ingredients add it at the end of the cooking session just to warm it through. It can be added to vegetable based soups, added to fritatas or tossed through pasta to make the meal more hearty and filling.
Leftover chicken is ideal in an Asian style meals. Add the leftover chicken at the end of your cooking time, when you are cooking your Asian vegetables or noodles, to heat through. Then simply serve and eat.
Leftover chicken can be turned into a wonderful yummy quiche . Saute onion, garlic, mushrooms and season to taste. Prepare a dish with a layer of breadcrumbs and slices of mild cheese. Arrange a layer of your sauted onion, garlic, bacon and mushrooms and add your chopped leftover chicken. Pour over your beaten eggs with cream cheese mixture. Add slices of tomato or asparagus spears to decorate the top. Bake in your oven and serve with a side salad.
A chicken wrap or sandwich is ideal for quick and healthy lunches. Buy your fresh wraps from your supermarket or bread shop. Mash an avocado with a little lemon juice and spread on your wrap or sliced bread. Then slice up tomato, lettuce and any other salad fruits or vegetables of your choice. Lay them out in your wrap and add your leftover chicken slices. Add salt, pepper and mayonnaise to taste. Fold your wrap. Serve it, on a plate, cut in two for easy eating.
Why not consider turning your leftover chicken into a gourmet style meal that will impress your friends and family . Mushroom and chicken parcels are absolutely scrumptious to eat and very easy to make. Saute sliced mushrooms in a little butter and oil.
