Stress can affect most of us at one time or another throughout life. Some can be subject to stress more frequently than others, as life is different for each and every one of us. Life is very demanding, and this fast paced lifestyle can be stressful. Life throws a lot at us, and some things are out of our control which is why they can cause a great deal of stress and trauma. Stress can be detrimental to one’s health and well-being if it is on-going or frequent, even small bouts of stress can be difficult, and need to be addressed to gain relief and restore harmony. Stress can cause many physical symptoms which can disrupt daily life.
Prominent symptoms of stress:
Stress is a common part of daily life that helps us to protect ourselves, as well as preparing us for important activities. Stress provides us with extra energy and focus to be able to tackle what’s ahead. The body goes into ‘fight or flight’ mode when it is stressed and this reaction can greatly help us to tackle important challenges. However, too much stress can take its toll on the mind and body, and cause unwanted physical symptoms. These symptoms include feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, anxiety and worrying, low mood and irritability, minor ailments such as an upset stomach, feeling of nausea, aches and pains, lack or increase in appetite and sleep and feeling on edge and unable to relax.

Take control of life and make the necessary changes to feel more relaxed and at ease. Make any necessary changes to the schedule to reduce stress and manage life better. Having a clear, organized schedule can greatly reduce stress, as everything is planned in advance and is noted to be able to keep on top of everything. Set realistic time frames for each activity to avoid rushing and panic. Organize the home and have a good clear out, as this clears the mind and makes the home more functional and practical. Being organized and having a schedule set in place can reduce stress.
• Diet and nutrition
Following a healthy balanced diet can improve general health and well-being, and reduce stress. The body functions better when a healthy diet is set in place. Eating healthy can make a big difference, as energy levels are increased, which allows for better performance throughout the day.
