Adjacent to State Fair Park, the Miller neighborhood in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is centrally located with easy access to all of Oklahoma City. The charming single-family homes on large lots were built in the 1920’s and 1930’s. Sitting back on the tree lined streets, the homes share the history and architecture of times past.

The Miller neighborhood, zip code 73107, is located five miles west of downtown Oklahoma City. The area is bordered by Northwest 16th Street to the north and Northwest 10th Street to the south. The western boundary is North May Avenue and North Villa Avenue to the east.

The premier shopping area is the Penn Square Mall with many anchor stores and restaurants for fine dining. It is five miles north of the neighborhood and includes the 10-screen Dickenson Theater. However, residents do not need to go far for fast food and other shopping opportunities as the area is riddled with convenience stores and fast food eateries. The Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market is about a mile away and there are two SuperCenters within a four mile drive.

State Fair Park is on the southwest border of the neighborhood. Calling itself the “Horse Show Capital of the World” it hosts the annual shows for the National Reining Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. It is also the location for the Oklahoma State Fair held every September.

The tree lined Reed Park borders this neighborhood on Northwest 12th Street. This small 3-acre park offer many activities for the residents. The park is a long narrow grass lawn with a tennis and volleyball court. There is a playground with a climbing structure and the park features a sprayground with jets of water that allows visitors to cool off on those hot summer days. The picnic area is a family favorite.

Oklahoma City features many other recreational activities for senior citizens with two centers and a variety of water features. There are parks for the family canine and places for fishing. Ten miles north of the neighborhood is Lake Overholser with a covered fishing pier and a boat ramp. The Cyrus Avery Observation Tower provides a great view of the three ponds and the lake. There is a skate park and one mile of walking trails. Picnicking is a popular activity at Lake Overholser. It is also the home of the Route 66 Park. The playground features a map of the historic Mother Road with many of the landmarks. U.S. Route 66 followed the north shore of Lake Overholser from 1926
