The problem I have with this is in the wording of the title itself. The US Government is a broad range of people. I voted no simply because when people speak of the attacks on September 11th, 2001 and US Government involvement, they are usually referring to the Bush Administration. Do I believe the aforementioned was involved? No. Was there any US Government involvement? Maybe not directly, but at the very least there was Governmental assistance through policies and lack there of. Were they put in place to intentionally assist our enemies? Only those that put them there can say with certainty.

There are too many possibilities to be 100% certain either way. There are many in this Country, some in positions of power within the Government, that do not like this Country the way it is, it is possible that they are trying to change it into the way they want it. The theories that there were bombs or other devices planted in the Twin Towers that actually caused them to come down. That may very well be the case, however that does not prove Government involvement. Did the Government find out that information and not release it? Maybe. That does not mean it was a cover up. It could very well mean that they saw no reason to alarm the rest of the Nation that there was more to the attacks. What purpose would it serve to tell the American people that terrorists had somehow managed to get into the Trade Center undetected and plant explosives. That would be implying that someone at the Trade Centers failed to secure the buildings, very possibly someone who was killed on that tragic day. What purpose would have been served to lay blame on someone and bring added grief to the family?

Conspiracy theories are abundant on this topic, it would take a book to address all of them. The thought that the Government was complicit in the attacks to give just cause to the American people to go to war with Iraq and remove Saddam Hussein. Would that truly have been necessary to achieve that goal? No, not when you have the CIA at your disposal. Then there are the oil theories. Have we gained anything by that? Wouldn't it stand to reason that those in power would have more to gain by drilling for our own oil here?

Let's keep in mind that there are more people at work than just a President and his Administration. We have over 500 people in Congress, all of their aides and let's not forget about those in the Lobbying business. They are the ones paying Congress
