How to lay your infant down to sleep

is the best plan of action to keep her warm. Giving the baby her evening and nigh-time feedings at the same time and placing her in bed as she begins to drift towards sleep rather than waiting until she is fully asleep will help her to adjust and learn to set down to rest on her own.

Lay the baby on her side and use the rolled receiving blankets or those position pillows you can buy for that purpose. As she wiggles and roots around looking to get comfortable resist the urge to pick her back up! Instead gently rub her back and quietly tell her good night. When she wakes for the middle of the night feedings, change the diaper, feed her and cuddle her while she is fed, but do not play' with her or talk to her as this will encourage her to wake up and spend time with you.

Instead, after she has been burped place her back to bed as before, gently rub her back and tell her good-night as she settles herself back down.
Following this or a similar routine will help your baby learn that bedtime is a time to settle down and go to sleep. A set bedtime hour and other before bed routines such as a warm bath and bedtime story as she gets older will be a comforting routine she will actually look forward to.

In summary, always place baby to bed on their back or sides to sleep. Maintain a peaceful established routine and bedtime can be a quiet and peaceful time for baby and family.
