Eternal Separation

......They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Rev 20:10

I was sitting here thinking about what hell would be like, when there was a quickening in my spirit and the question was,”Do you know what I consider hell to be?” No Lord. “I consider it to be the fact that I gave My Son as a sacrifice so I could spend time with You and still so many people reject Me. It breaks my heart that I won't be with My Creation, that they choose other things over Me. That is My definition of hell. Separation.”

There are so many theories circulating in our religious world. Some state that hell is a place of eternal torment...that it will never end. Other state it is a fiery lake for the unsaved to be thrown into and burned up. Still others state that God is too merciful for there to be a hell.

I don't know exactly what hell will be like. I also don't intend to find out! I do believe that it is real and the unrepentant will not be spared. The Bible is very clear on this fact. Yes God is merciful and gracious. He has given the choice to all of us as to whether we will go home with Him or to the place called Hell.

Have you ever sat and thought about the pros and cons of the different ways of dying? Maybe it is just me that thinks of these things! Anyway, I was thinking of hell in somewhat the same terms.

Imagine that it is a matter of eternal separation. Think with me about how it would be to be outside the gates of heaven and know that you can never enter! Imagine knowing that the One that created you is just on the other side of the wall. Picture your family and friends being so close and yet so far. It would be like going to prison to visit someone you love with the glass wall between the two of you. Oh so close and yet so far. I have a son, father, grandparents, in laws and friends that have gone on before me. I can't fathom being so close and not being able to see them, to hug and hold them. I can't wait to tell my dad how my life has turned out! He will be so happy, and probably surprised,  to know that his prayers for me were answered! I have a precious baby boy that I only got to spend a few weeks with. I can only dream of the joy of covering him with kisses and holding him. God is so good to give us another opportunity to be with those we love. He understands how hard separation is .

Can you picture the Wedding Feast we will have with our Bridegroom? To actually be able to look into the eyes of the Lover of our Souls and see the love there, to see the scars in His hands and to know that He did that for me!

As I see it, fire burns my body, but separation kills my soul and spirit. Don't get me wrong here, I am not advocating some new doctrine about hell. I believe what the Word of God teaches. I so not want to experience hell!

Lord help me to understand fully the price that was paid so I could be with you eternally. Forgive me if I ever take it lightly. As I look around here on this earth I become more homesick for You and Your kingdom. Help us to get ready and not be distracted by the cares of the our lives. I love you and pray in the precious name of Jesus. Amen
