It’s here; the first full-length Wallace and Gromit film. Our cheese-addicted friend, Wallace, and his highly intelligent sidekick, Gromit, are at their Wallaby Street home that has been made into a pest control business, Anti-Pesto. With the Tottington Hall giant vegetable competition just four days away, the duo are on the prowl for nature’s veggie hunters, rabbits.
On their journey they meet Lady Tottington and are stuck with a sea of rabbits who have made an underground maze of the Tottington estate. While at Lady Tottington’s Victor is introduced, a gun toting bureaucrat with a fierce looking dog, who wants to eradicate the rabbits in Lady Tottington’s holey yard. As he fires his rifle, the rabbits are sucked out of the ground by Wallace and Gromit’s humane Bunny Vac 6000, which impresses the animal-loving Lady Tottington.
Our crockpot idealist, Wallace, decides that he can use his new invention, the mind manipulation-o-matic, to “rapidly rehabilitate” the rabbits using subliminal messages to teach the rabbits that vegetables are bad. When the rays from the sun are introduced into the rehabilitation process, a rabbit gets a double dose of reverse rehabilitation and begins a veggie rampage.
With the whole town veggie crazy, they are depending on Anti-Pesto to protect their precious prized vegetables. But the were-rabbit is devouring the town’s veggies at an alarming rate, causing all of the customer alarms to sound at once. Of course, Gromit is afraid that his giant vegetable will win the golden carrot, and takes extra precaution to protect his prized possession.
After an uproar from citizens at the town hall, an old man creates a panic by telling the people of the town about the curse of the were-rabbit. Of course, Vince, stops the panic by expressing that he will be able to hunt the were-rabbit. Lady Tottington, still against killing the innocent rabbits, offers Anti-Pesto a second chance to protect the town’s veggies. When Wallace offers a more humane solution, the townspeople are ready to give it a go.
With Wallace now in love with Lady Tottington, it is up to Gromit to save the day once more, as the intelligent sidekick always must. With a giant lady rabbit tied to the top of the Anti-Pesto SWAT TEAM van, the couple ride out to save the day.
This is a feel good film for the whole family. The claymation only adds to the complexity of the characters. It is a must see for fans and non-fans alike.
