The impact of a negative attitude on your weight loss

by David Brown

Created on: September 02, 2011

You are walking down the street, wearing sweats, expensive walking shoes and sweating profusely. The sweating does not make sense because it is below forty degrees outside. What you are aware of is that you are doing everything you can to lose weight, which is including exercise but nothing seems to be working or it is not working fast enough for you. So, you are not only having a tough time losing weight but your mental state is being effected and all you can do is be negative about it. People are looking at you and you feel that inside they are snickering or even laughing at you. So, now, you know there is nothing more that you can do except find a way to rid yourself of the negative attitude because it is effecting you something awful and you want to do something about it.

There are a number of impacts that a negative attitude will have on your weight loss and in the end, you have not lost any weight or not enough to make you feel more positive about yourself and not allowing you to stop thinking what other people are saying about you. So, the following is a list, not all-inclusive of course, of the impact of the negativeness that comes with weight loss.

First, there is the health impact. This comes in various forms, the two biggest being physical and mental, of course. Let's look at the physical. You do everything to lose the excess weight you have but do not see anything happening. You read books, you even buy diet and exercise books. You have used Weight Watchers or Slim Fast and neither has helped you. You go to the doctor for regular checkups and he or she tells you that you have to lose weight and they give you a diet plan and still you find yourself in the drive-through at McDonald's. Overindulging in foods high in fat are going to hurt you eventually and your physical well-being will begin to suffer. You will find yourself with possible heart problems, possible on-set of diabetes and much more. This can then lead to a change in mental well-being which brings you to the negative impact of weight loss.

The mental state of weight loss is as important as the physical. Many will say that will-power is the greatest thing to have when it comes to putting your mind to wanting to lose weight. However, if the will-power does not exist, then the negativity remains and this makes it very difficult to lose weight. At the same time, as we age, we find it hard to lose weight and we might find ourselves in a sense of giving up and believing that we are what we eat
