Whether achieved naturally or with the help of chemicals, red undoubtedly remains one of the most desired hair colors. Since red hair is a recessive trait, it is rarer than most colors. If you have red hair, you should know that there are certain precautions you must take when caring for it. Following are some tips for red hair care.

Be Kind to your Hair

All hair colors require some tender loving care. However, natural red heads tend to have finer hair than people with other hair colors. As you know, fine hair requires extra care because it is so fragile. This means that you will have to condition your hair thoroughly after each shampoo. Also, it would be a good idea to invest in a good deep conditioning treatment. These deep conditioners tend to restore some of the hair’s natural moisture. Since fine hair is more susceptible to damage than other hair types, it must be trimmed regularly. Every three months or so, make a trip to the salon and have the damage trimmed from the ends of the hair. If you do not remove damage, it can begin to move up the rest of the hair shaft and cause further issues.

Use Specified Products

Whether your red locks are natural or color-treated, it is always best to find a hair care line that caters to red hair. There are hair care lines that are geared towards nearly every hair color. Products specifically designed for red hair help to restore condition and color. Additionally, they help protect your red tresses from elements such as sun and wind.

Find the Right Hair Stylist

While there are talented hair stylists sporting every hair color, if you have red hair, it might be best to seek out a fellow copper-topped hair dresser. A red-headed stylist will inevitably store knowledge about red hair care. Also, if you are not a natural red-head and are striving for the look, never be too intimidated to ask questions. For instance, ask your red-headed friends which stylists they prefer. If you see a woman with amazing looking red hair, never be embarrassed to inquire about her hair stylist. Most likely, she will take the attention as a compliment.

Overall, if you were naturally blessed with red hair, consider yourself lucky. Never be ashamed of your fiery red tresses. Embrace them and care for them the absolute best that you know how.
