A Study on the definition of Hacking and Hackers in the Cyber Sphere
1- Introduction
The computer, as one of the main communication tools, has had a crucial impact on communities particularly in the last decade. Today computers are available in most places; the number of users are now 6,499,697,060 (world state, 2010)
The Internet, a main use of the computer, connects people to the world from anywhere and at any time. It has changed the face of communication and commerce extensively.
The Internet has also created a new type of crime usually committed through the online services. Internet Crime is also known as Computer or Online Crime and refers to any misuse of the Internet for any purpose; it is widely spoken of and we may now be familiar with it. It has forced lawmakers to create new, tougher legislation against offenders to tackle this matter.
Regarding computer use, any act by an unauthorized person or program for any purpose that results in breaching computer security, to access saved and protected information is illegal; this is known as hacking and is in the category of Computer Crime.
In this study a review on the definitions of Hacking, Hackers and a discussion on the background and motivation behind it will be presented from different aspects and viewpoints.
