People too dependent on computers

Are people too dependent on computers?  Absolutely! People have become more reliant on social networks like Facebook, My Space, Twitter, Flicker, and YouTube. Face-to-face communication is pretty non-existent this day and age.

People visit the social networks to converse with friends, hire an employee, and write in their diary. Patients are questioning their diagnosis, because the patient previously diagnosed the ailment before the doctor’s visit on WebMD. Physical class settings after high school are being replaced by Universities that offer online classes, because of the flexibility and convenience. Dating sites are ever more popular. People can choose the gender and type before they ever talk or see each other in person. Bill pay online is more common despite the hackers who steal all of the account owners money.

Intimate conversations and questions with close friends can now be answered by Google or Ask Jeeves. Shopping in malls has become a thing of the past because you can stay home and choose your wardrobe. Books can now be bought on Amazon and shipped to your house; therefore, there is no reason to shop at a book store.

Computers were not designed to create initial laziness. Computers were not designed to be treated like robots. Each individual should interact face-to-face with people and think on their own. Computers have replaced connections with people. Hardly anyone thinks for themselves anymore. Not to mention, offices are closing down, because there is no need to have customer service available when people are searching online avoiding the physical interaction of people. Health concerns are at greater risk because everyone is glued to their computers. If someone is coming home from a long day of work after staring at a computer for eight hours, but sits in front of a computer for another three or four hours to communicate with friends, pay bills, or diagnose an ailment, that person should be feeling the effects of relying too heavily on computers.

When computers cause people to become distracted from their daily work duties, or interfere with their intimate relationships, those are clear indicators that people are too dependent on computers.

Computers are a great resource, and vital in our society, however people who experience any type of addiction are harmful to their body physically and mentally.  It will not be an easy habit to break away from; however, exercise and an active lifestyle will improve minds and bodies immensely.
