It is easy to consider that being a freelance writer provides freedom from the difficulties that normally attach to other forms of career choices. There is a perception that this is particularly the case if you are home based and submitting your finished content work electronically or through the post. With a home based freelance writing career it is easy to assume that there are no pressures in terms of someone demanding that you sit at your desk and computer at and for a set period of time and, moreover, that the words will just flow across the keyboard at X number per minute. However, this perception is not valid. Freelance writers experience as many difficulties to overcome as those who have chosen any other career might face, albeit the issues these relate to might be different. If you are not available to respond rapidly to client concerns, they will naturally seek an alternative source for their assignment that will provide this quality of communication. Secondly, most freelance writing assignments have deadlines and guidelines for completion of their work requirements. Again, if you are not disciplined enough to meet these deadlines and standards, the likelihood is that the client will look elsewhere for freelance help. Therefore, to avoid such difficulties arising, it is important for the freelance writer to be sufficiently disciplined by setting regular work schedules they need to abide by, similar to those required of any other employee or sub-contractor.
2 Research and knowledge
There is an old idiom for freelance writing, which suggest that the best way to success as a freelance writer is to concentrate ones upon writing about issues and subjects about which the freelancer has knowledge or experience. While this is undoubtedly true, there is an important caveat to add to it. This is that the only constant in life is change and this applies
