Makeup tips

Ideally, the purpose of makeup is to accentuate your natural beauty rather than concealing your face. When applied correctly, makeup can make you instantly look and feel better. Unfortunately, many women do not understand the basics of applying makeup or feel intimidated by the entire process. Following are some basic makeup tips.

Less is More

An overabundance of makeup never looks attractive. In fact, too much makeup can appear cakey and unnatural. Also when you overload on makeup, you are depriving yourself of your natural beauty. When applying foundation, you should never use more than a dime-sized amount. Only apply enough powder to conceal oil and shine. When it comes to blush, always begin with a very light dusting. If you feel underdone, you can always go back and add a bit more. Try to keep eyeliner application thin and precise; too thick of a line can cause your eyes to appear small and recessed. When it comes to mascara application, apply only one coat and allow it to dry completely. If you feel underdone, apply a second layer only after the first has dried thoroughly. Always blot lipstick after application. Otherwise, you will find lipstick all over your water glass and even on your clothing.

Blend Thoroughly

When it comes to cosmetics, many women simply do not blend well enough. No one wants to see any unnatural lines upon a lovely lady’s face. Always make sure that your foundation matches your skin tone perfectly. Blend it very thoroughly before applying any powder. As you blend, be sure that you never smear foundation down your neck; your neck is almost never the same color as your face. Make sure that your blush is blended as well. You never want to look like you have two pink dots upon your cheeks.

Be Sanitary

Most likely, you do not desire to deal with skin irritations and eye infections. Always be sanitary when it comes to cosmetics. Cleanse your makeup brushes and sponges at least once per week. If you do not wish to clean your utensils this often, you must replace them regularly. Also, never use mascara for more than 6 weeks. After 6 weeks have passed, bacteria can begin to grow in the tube. These bacteria can be harmful and lead to eye irritations and infections. Whatever you do, never share makeup with anyone else. Sharing makeup leaves you susceptible to other people’s germs.
