How do you think you can win your professor? You know that professors are usually professorial. They come and go like an Indian raja on a bedecked elephant accompanied by a train of clowns and drum-beaters and so on. In the case of the professor, these decorations are made by the way he puts on his coat, sometimes overturned and sometimes buttoned up to another hole. Or the way he wears his spectacles stationed at the tip of his nose, which he thinks is sartorial and anyone who eyes him will be impressed.
Now for the disciple who wants to impress the professor, it is a Herculean task. The usual way is to appear very studious in the classroom meeting professor’s eye by shaking ones head whenever the professor pauses in his lecture - no matter if you understand him or not. But then there is a great danger which may befall you, should the professor ask for a clarification to what he said. You should devise some tactics of your own to escape such catastrophe. A very safe and fool-proof method of getting the professor is to meet him in the library and ask him simple doubts. The professor will be gratified (A true professor likes only serious doubts!).
Another important place to meet the professor is the church. Meet him on a Sunday in the church and accost him as casual as the meeting itself. Remember that now on you are in the notice of him, and therefore you have to sit at the front bench itself in his class and jot down everything he utters. When tests are conducted, include some of his idiosyncratic expressions in your answers. The professor will be immensely pleased and you will get good marks.
Again, if the professor has written any book or published some articles on any subject which may not be noteworthy, ferret them out and read them ,even if you don’t understand, and refer them to the professor in your conversation with him. Always be very polite and humble with him, for a professor always likes respect more than any money or presents.
The last tip for anyone who is genuinely interested to win the professor is that the professor likes the disciple who understands his mind without ever telling it and behaves accordingly! Good luck!
