Entering the world of the blogosphere isn't for everyone, but with the accesibility of the Internet, it is certainly something everyone can try.

Jumping into blogging is a fun adventure, but there are some blogging tips every beginner should know about before taking the plunge.

1. Choose a blog host.

For beginners, I always recommend a free one to get started, such as wordpress or blogspot.

2. Decide what the goal of your blog is.

This will help you design your blog and choose the correct themes, widgets and links.

Designing your blog will differ depending on your blog host.  There are some general tips however that span the Internet and are not host specific.

3. Use Widgets.

Widgets are often a very confusing blog tool for beginners, but very important. Widgets are applications that allow you to customize your blog. Widgets can include a site counter to count the number of times your blog is read, an email sign-up link for readers to sign up for email notification, and a widget can add links to your blog as well.

4. Use Categories.

Your blog is just that: your blog. Whenever you write a post, that is just one post within your blog. You can categorize your posts. You can usually have many categories within one blog. For instance you may have a parenting blog, with categories such as recipes, rainy day activities, funny stories, etc.

5. Don't underestimated keywords and tags.

Tags are identifying words or phrases that someone may search for. For instance, if you write a blog about repairing credit, "credit repair" can be one tag. These tags serve a very important role in your blog, as this is how readers will find your blog.

6. Make your blog interesting.

Use media such as photographs, videos and music. This keeps your readers entertained, and increases your chances of return readers and subscribers.

7. Speak simply, as if you are talking to a friend.

Complex language and run-on sentences will alienate your readers. It is also best to speak in first or second person. This helps the reader identify with you as a blogger.

8. Spread the word!

Post a link to your blog on facebook, twitter, linkedin or other social networking sites that pertain to your blog.

9. Network with other bloggers.

Many blog hosting sites have forums where questions can answered, ideas can be shared and blogging news is posted.

For all of you blogging beginners out there, don't be afraid to take the plunge. The fun thing about the Internet and the idea that anyone can blog, is that there is something out there for everyone.
