Never Too Small
I do, she said,
not knowing what was in store.
He helped her,
unlike anyone had before.
She wore his ring,
for over thirteen years.
While dying inside,
Drowning in tears.
He meant well,
and wasn't trying to be bad.
He didn't mean to box her up,
leave her caged in or sad.
I love you he said,
but that’s not what,
was inside his head.
To him love, meant ownership,
controlling every move.
Not realizing,
he was actually blocking her view.
Of the world,
her plans for it all.
How could she make an impact,
when she felt so small.

This cage
has strong bars
around it that won't let you in
I care for you but I am in love
with another
