How to boost your SAT scores

Although studying for the SAT's certainly will improve your rote memory skills, and allow you to anticipate the general way the test will proceed, most people skip one very important step: mental preparation.

High School juniors taking the SAT's already have a full plate: prom, sports, relationships, music, and jobs. The SAT's just add one extra level of stress to their lives.

Here are a few pointers:

Have a positive mental attitude (easy to preach, difficult to execute)
Proceed through the test in a timely manner
Get enough sleep the ENTIRE WEEK of the SAT's
Eat enough food the ENTIRE WEEK of the SAT's

For all the life-and-death gravity that the SAT's represent in our inherently merit-based society, they're just a test, and one factor out of many others examined during the admissions process.

The SAT's demonstrate a college freshman's academic success; too many times, it's a measuring stick of a minor's personal worth and future opportunity.
