Animal facts: Himalayan brown bear

The Himalayan bear is one of the most captivating creatures on the planet, thanks to their exceptionally bulky physiques and their appetite for other mammals including big and small.

It is additionally referred to as the Himalayan Red Bear, Dzu-Teh and also the Isabelline Bear but most famously known as the Himalayan brown bear.

The Himalayan Brown bear has some very interesting facts about the species, here are a selection of them which includes the type of food they eat, their hibernation and their life expentacy.

* The Himalayan brown bear is a subspecies of the Brown Bear. It is not just the Himalayan brown bear that is a subspecies of the brown bear, there has been 16 reported subspecies of the kind.

* The life expectancy for the Himalayan bear is around 20-30 years in the wild and around 45 years in captivity.

* This brown bear is an omnivore and eats a selection of food which includes: plants, grasses, insects, fruit. The bear does not just eat small types of food it additionally eats large mammals, including sheep. Due to their big appetites they can grow larger due to the great quantities of proteins they intake.

* The Himalayan Adult bears will eat before sunrise and later during the afternoon.

* They have a distinguishing huge frame with a big shoulder hump. Their claws are big and curved with blunt ends, this is convenient for digging up fish from a stream.

* The Himalayan brown bear is not only brown, it has a shade of red in its coat too!

*  The Himalayan bear is much smaller than some of the other subtypes of the brown bear.  Approximately (6.5 - 9.75 ft). However the female and males size varies.

* You can usually discover these extremely interesting creatures between the main Himalaya and the cold desert, foothills of the Pakistani Himalaya in northern Pakistan.

* Hibernation usually occurs in a den that the bear makes itself and goes into hibernation around October and arise during April time.  

* Sadly, the Himalayan brown bear is endangered amongst many other bears.

* There are currently 65 brown bears in the Deosai National Park which is in Pakistan. 

* The bears are extremely fast and can run up to 35mph!
