Here is my list of common web design mistakes:

1) wrong level of formality for the website- If the website is a professional one which includes a resume, the level of language needs to be appropriate. Obviously, humour is not appropriate in this case. At the same time, if the website is an informal one, excessively formal language is likely to disengage viewers.

2) bad choice of colours and fonts- Very dark or very bright colours can make it very difficult to read text. Certain colour combinations also tend to be visually unappealing such as green and red.

3) lengthy introductions and repetitive information- Viewers want a website that does not waste time with unnecessarily long introductions or information that is repeated needlessly.

4) difficult navigation- If the website is difficult to naviage, it is not user-friendly and even worse, it may frustrate viewers so much that they'll leave and probably never come back.

5) irrelevant links and links that don't work- Websites with irrelevant links along with links that don't work are obviously very annoying.

6) websites that are not updated- A website that is not updated indicates a lack of dedication to managing the website. In the same way that a car or van needs to undergo regular maintenance, a website (especially one with a great deal of information) needs to be updated from time to time.
