Poetry: The argument

by Ronnie Egerton

Created on: August 13, 2011   Last Updated: August 16, 2011

"Calm Down?" I shouted
As I leapt from the chair. "Calm Down?"
I screamed, voice piercing the air.
Where on earth did you get
Such unmitigated nerve.
When all I have done is to constantly serve.
I don't want to lose
My soft gentle touch
That proved to you once
That I loved you so much.
Calm's not a virtue I continue to claim
When all that you do is to constantly blame.
So pick up your clothes
And ease down the road.
If you're still here in five minutes
I'm going to explode.
