Poetry: Valentine's Day

by Patrick Derilus

Created on: August 13, 2011

Such a day where cupid is resented by black hearts

Such a day where cupid is praised for every bow and arrow

Why should love be eminent on one day?

The heart should glow red from every swift second of every moment

Continuously counting those dark days, emotional numbing was a rule

Painted weak and in depth created contemptible is what it would seem

His stomach would turn from even hearing the weak-kneed word

As he saw them, his soul began to gradually fade

Falling for the aesthetic angels that slightly flew past him

Almost starting to believe an abhorrent emotion can cause good

Mentally destroying countless lives unable to get back up on their feet

Nevertheless, causing people to connect and blissfully bond

No need for presents

No need for chocolate and candy, especially on this day

Who shall desire that when love is extravagantly expensive of them both?
