I'll tell you why the moon's crescent light shines across your face,
I'll tell you why the darkness never stays plastered on any vase.
Perhaps there are too many things,
perhaps there are not enough
to speak of the truth that lays uncovered
truth that holds dire.
I never thought of you
I'd always dreamed of you.
Sadness brought me closer
Pain pushed me farther
To stand alone among the shadows
and reach past the meadows.
I thought,
I'd tell you why.

I’ll tell you why you’re beautiful
My sweet little angel child
come and let me tuck you in
then listen for a while
Why do people look so different,
though feelings are so alike?
Why is it so easy to hate,
though love requires effort?
Why do
I'll tell you why
I'm never around.
I'll tell you why
I don't make a sound.
I'll tell you why
I don't set foot on the ground.
