Diorskin moisture release leaves a dewy satin finish, which is supposed to hydrate the skin with its moisturizing properties.
The foundation costs £27 ($43) .
People like myself who have dry skin may find it as much of an arduous task finding a foundation that doesn’t dry the skin.
After using numerous foundations (practically every foundation of the market) I decided to try the Dior skin moisture release, because it isn’t one I have used before.
I purposely went for this foundation as I was having particularly dry skin at the time, so I thought I would give my skin a treat and buy a foundation purposely designed for dry skin.
The Dior woman applied the foundation and so on and in the shop I had no idea how good/ nasty it looked on my skin, because the lighting doesn’t give much away. The only time I really got to play around with the product and see the results was in the car on the way home.
I was very surprised at how little coverage the product gave. I have dark circles and uneven skin tone. The last thing I need is a foundation that is so thin in consistency it looks like a tinted moisturizer! Barely covering anything at all, it was just a color sitting on my face.
Another irritating factor was the smell; the smell is so perfumed just like the other Dior foundations. It is so off putting applying something so perfumed onto the skin. When you have such dry skin, the last thing you want is to apply a product with perfume in which will dry it out even more!
The scent wasn’t even a pleasant smell; it was very old fashioned and unusual for a product you put on your face.
The foundation definitely does give a nice dewy look at the beginning. It doesn’t cover well, but if you don’t have problem skin and pretty much have nothing to hide, then this may be a product you may want to consider if you don’t want your skin to be camouflaged in make-up.
The foundation however, isn’t something people with oily skin should consider buying as I found out when I arrived home. Although I did say initially I technically have combination skin and after an hour or so the really dewy foundations do make my t zone look so oily and awful, the foundation pretty much slips off and looks patchy! This was no exception.
The foundation color the Dior woman picked was terrible! I was very surprised because I did ask for ‘natural’ and most of the Dior women actually look quite natural compared to Chanel and Mac. However, this woman picked a color perhaps two shades too dark for me, unless the Dior foundation has such a bad range of shades.
Overall, I had a bad experience with this foundation. It was probably my own fault as I shouldn’t have really picked a moisturizing foundation for my combination skin. Despite my oiliness creeping up in the day I could do with a matte one to cover this and just apply extra moisturizer before application!
