How to tell if your neighbors are using drugs

Depending on where your neighbors live in relationship to you, i.e. on the floor above, next door, a full acre away, 1/4 mi. away, there are different signs that may need to be found.

In general, a terrible parking job may be due to drug use, but it could be more likely that they are drunk, which is, in fact, much worse. Or they could just simply suck at parking. Who knows. Chances are, a near-perfect park could also suspect marijuana use.

Of course, drugs that are ingested or inhaled can cause sudden coughing "fits." This is a good sign that drugs may currently be in the process of actual consumption. Following this would usually bring about a smell of fresh herb, really crappy Mexican brick, the smell of crack the drug, or ice, or some other strange odor not resembling anything that could be confused with lousy cooking. Incense could also indicate a desire to mask the scent of a drug.

While it should be common knowledge that the majority of marijuana users do actually hold full-time jobs, and many in higher positions such as doctors, lawyers, and the guy you trust with your retirement plan. On the other hand, it is a sad reality that many users of the hard drugs stay home all day, stay up all night, and sometimes even have 24 hour binges. They may come and go and odd hours, and be gone for only a short time, certainly not long enough to be "working."

Drugs that do not emit smell, such as pills, mushrooms, cocaine, lsd, heroin and others, may be a bit harder to detect, since smell is nonexistent. This would suggest that one must observe their neighbor more than usual, at a safe distance, and if in passing, by chance.

The eyes, up close, are a dead giveaway to determine if a person may be under the influence of some type of drug. But, don't confuse this with someone who has a prescription for medication. I know some of the meds available make people really wacky, but somehow they are able to get them in a legal manner. Before reacting like a civilian police officer, make sure this is not the case, as making a stink about legal legal-issues would cause unnecessary tension between neighbors.

But people with dilated pupils, or really small ones even, bloodshot eyes, puffy eyelids, darkened circles under the eyes, or if the persons eyes are open so wide that you blindfold them with dental floss, could be a sign of certain drug use.

Maybe strike up a conversation with your neighbor and see what kind of a person he/she is. Maybe you have something in common. Maybe they
