Like any good party, a baby shower needs entertainment. The games should be simple, fun, and something centered around the baby and mother since it is a baby shower. And baby showers are dedicated to bringing gifts for the prospective mother and child.
One game that I have always enjoyed at baby showers is simple but a source of great amusement. All you need are laundry pins. Each guest is given one of the wooden clips to pen onto their clothing. And there is only one simple rule; whoever says the word ‘baby’ loses their clip to whoever hears them say ‘baby’ and manages to take the pin first. The person with the most pins at the end of the party, or given time, wins. You can chose to have it just be a game or you can have a prize for the winner.
Another fun game involves using the letters of the alphabet. Print out or write out the letters separately onto cards and hold them up one by one. The first person to present a word starting with the letter that is baby related wins the round. You may either have them call out the word or have them write the word on a card that they must hold up. You can give out small prizes for each round or you can give a prize to the person who thought up the most words first.
There is also an advice type game if the mother to be is going to have her first child. Those who already have children can one by one offer a unique piece of advice. One can start and then call on the next person. You can make it into a speed game and if someone cannot think of something to say fast enough it means they are out and you can continue to rotate through the advice-givers until only one is left.
Other fun speed games are things like seeing who can accomplish the fastest time in changing the diaper on a baby doll.
Then there are games to see how many children a mother will have in the future. As the presents are opened you put the bows on a paper plate for the mother to count afterwards. I assure you that the game is not at all accurate.
All of these games can either be done for fun or the hostess can provide small prizes. But the real point of the games is to have entertainment that is fueled by excitement of the baby to come.
