Yesterday when I was young
Life for me was so much fun
But as I grew older I began to see
Life wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.
I learned to take the good with the bad
One day I was happy, the next day sad
Seems to me there’s a lot more to life
Than so little happiness and so much strife.
But how can we find the happiness we seek
If we always insist on being so weak
Give up our battles before they’re won
And settle for second best or none.
If we would only strive to be
A little more trusting, a little more free
Give more of ourselves and then we’ll receive
A life filled with love, happiness to achieve.
