A Boy I Knew
He’ll always be ten going on eleven
In grade five
Sitting in the second seat of the third row
Right in front of me
He’ll always have his silky hair and green eyes
And his playful grin
He’ll always be the boy
Under the monkey bars
Laying on the hard, dusty dirt
With a broken neck
His naked eyes wide open
Staring straight up to the heavens
This boy I knew
Will always be right there
In front of me
