A Journey of Voices

There's a voice that calls for me
Yet ever so distantly in the chapters of old
It's so hard to hear when it's not near
It is happy with joy
Golden not cold with despair
I reach out to grasp it but it seems it's not there
There is another voice that drowns out this one
It sits and screams over my shoulder
Screams and screams this and that
Screams of sadness and madness
Screaming in fear
Why oh why must this voice be so near
I wish to find this other voice
Once I find it, I can rejoice
For I will be away from this painful voice
But I run, it follows
I hide, it finds
It reigns in this kingdom of his
So far and vast
But it doesn't reign in the kingdom of the other
Which is smaller and harder to find
In my darkened state of mind
Once I find it though
The painful voice be not near
So I venture to find it
Away from here
Away from the sadness, the madness, and even the fear
