There is a selection of swim training equipment available to allow swimmers the opportunity to maximize their workout whilst in the water. This gives them the chance to make their swim workout more unique with the different elements they can now choose in their swimming routine.
Hopefully this article will give swimmers who are interested in learning about different equipment they can use whilst floating in the pool more knowledge and understanding in what the types of equipment involve and how effective they are.
One of the most obvious types of equipment a swimmer can use to maximise their swimming performance is a lap tracker which will give the swimmer an opportunity to keep track of laps, and calories burned whilst still swimming. This is a simple but effective method because whilst keeping track of laps it also brings out the competitive side to swimming as some swimmers set goals to reach to beat their last lap time.
Another useful component to maximise your water workout is webbed gloves. Webbed water gloves are used by the majority of competive swimmers. they provide greater water resistance during workout exercises in the water between your fingers which add intensity to upper body movements.
Micro buoyancy cuff is an alternative to the other equipment mentioned in the article. The cuffs are attached to either your wrists or ankles or both for extra resistance, this isn’t as common as the other equipment but is still very effective.
The pool belt is also a great piece of equipment for water workout. This is worn around the waist to offer added buoyancy for lower impact swimming workouts. The waterbelt helps to hold you in the water as you exercise. This is great for those who want to run whilst in the water.
A more popular water equipment that most swimming pools have available for swimmers is the “swimming noodle”.
The swimming noodle comes in a range of colours but usually comes in the same size. This provides floating support for long water exercise and increased resistance for enhanced upper body conditioning.
Last but not least is pool shoes. Pool shoes act as additional weights in the pool, they can help to provide support to your feet during higher intensity aquatic exercise routines. They are also good for those who have sensitive feet and want to protect their feet from long workouts in the swimming pool.
