Money-saving strategies for weddings

Planning a wedding can be very expensive, and couples who may have wanted to have a mega-extravaganza for their wedding may quickly realize that the wedding of their dreams is not the wedding that they can afford. So, couples on a tight budget who are looking for ways to cut corners may find relief in the fact that there are numerous ways to save money on their wedding without having to sacrifice all of the things that will make it a memorable day.

Rental Wedding Attire

Wedding dresses in particular can be very expensive, sometimes costing several thousands of dollars. So, a couple on a budget may want to consider renting their wedding attire as opposed to buying it outright. By renting instead of buying, a bride that wanted an exclusive dress by a coveted designer like Vera Wang can have that option without having to pay a hefty price. The dress will even come steamed and cleaned, so those details do not have to be worried about.

Signature Drinks

When most people go to a wedding, they go with the assumption that there will be an open bar. But, that can be quite expensive as an open bar can easily run $15 to $20 per person per hour. So, if a couple wants to serve alcohol at their wedding, but do not have the funds for a full open bar, they can have a signature drink instead. A signature drink is basically a drink of a couples choosing that can be mass produced, that the guests can enjoy. Couples who have turquoise as their wedding color can have turquoise drinks, and even give it a cute name significant to the couple.

Heavy Appetizers

It is necessary to feed guests when they attend a wedding as it is generally expected. But, that too can be very expensive. Instead of having a sit-down meal, why not serve a heavy appetizer menu instead? Serving a heavy appetizer meal is a surefire way to get guests full without having to pay for a complete meal service.

Borrow a Car

Many people like to have a limo for their wedding, but at a cost of $600 for three or four hours, renting a stretch may be out of the question. Couples who know someone with some sort of luxury or other top-of-the-line vehicle can ask a friend or family member to let them borrow it. That way, the bride and groom can ride in style without breaking the bank.

These are just a few tips to help you save money when planning your wedding. The best way to cut costs is to always keep in mind that you are working within a budget. Make little choices along the way that save money, and it will lead to big savings on the bottom line. Above all else, once the arrangements are made, enjoy the day and forget about the cost. You will only get the experience one time.
