The Lexington, Kentucky community of Chevy Chase sits on the southeastern edge of the city. Located in Fayette County, the mostly residential neighborhood is close to city parks, shopping, dining and medical facilities. Chevy Chase extends from Tates Creek Road to Chinoe Road. Its northern edge is Chenault Road and its southern border is Cooper Drive.

Chevy Chase is a pedestrian friendly community. It is a mid-sized neighborhood with neatly landscaped properties, many with mature shade trees. Residents living in this area are within walking distance to the Cassidy Elementary School on Tate Creek Road as well as neighborhood churches and the YMCA on Duke Road. South of the YMCA is a United States Post Office. One block east of the post office is a grocer, deli and pharmacy. This commercial area also features a bank, eateries and the Bluegrass Art Gallery.

The neighborhoods of Lexington are served by Lextran, the Lexington public bus system. There are stops throughout Chevy Chase including several along Tates Creek Road and Chinoe Road. There is a bus stop about one half mile from Ecton Park.  

The Penrose Ecton Park, known locally as Ecton Park is about three blocks south of the grocery store. An 11-acre park, it features two ball fields, four tennis courts and a basketball court. There is a picnic shelter and ample parking as well.

Minutes from Chevy Chase is the Lexington Shriners Hospital for Children. Located on Richmond Avenue, the hospital delivers state-of-the-art care to children coping with a variety of orthopedic and neuromusculoskeletal conditions. It is accessible via Lextran. Adjacent to it is the Clinton Road Park, a small neighborhood park with an open play area. The hospital is across the street from the Idle Hour Country Club.

The University of Kentucky (UK) is less than two miles west of the neighborhood of Chevy Chase. The university has about 24,000 students and employs more than 1,000 full-time employees. It offers a variety of degree programs from bachelors to doctorates. The university athletic program is part of the Division 1 athletic system. The Wildcats are represented in several sports including basketball, baseball, soccer and football.

Residents living in Chevy Chase are close to the various athletic venues. The Cliff Hagen Stadium is home to the Wildcats baseball team. The facilities seat 3,000. Rupp Arena, the men’s basketball facilities seat 23,000 and was named for former UK Coach Adolph Rupp. Commonwealth Stadium, located off Cooper Drive averages 56,000 football fans a game. The UK Soccer Complex are the home fields for both the men and women’s soccer teams. They are located on the southern edge of campus just north of the University of Kentucky Arboretum.

Chevy Chase is less than three miles south of downtown Lexington. The downtown area is home to the Arts Center, the Lexington History Museum and the main branch of the city library.

With its convenient location to schools, shopping, dining and the University of Kentucky, Chevy Chase is a popular Lexington residential area. It has something for everyone.
