Useful iPad apps for homeschooling

For those of you who are home-schooling or thinking about it every extra bit of help is always appreciated. Those of you lucky to have an Apple iPad can use this wonderful piece of technology to assist you in teaching your students. Recently many useful applications (apps) have been introduced to assist with home-schooling for a whole age range of students from kindergarten to college students. There is an app out there for every subject, activity and down time with games, puzzles and videos available to making learning fun again.

If you are thinking about home-schooling, a new iPad app called Home-school Handbook is a great way to start, learn how to teach your children the basics and how to assist them to exceed in every area of learning. This iPad app is well organised and easily read, currently $2.99. A free useful iPad app is Core. This assists you in teaching the correct core standards. A great reference for parents and students alike and ensures you are up teaching the correct standard in each subject. Updated regularly this is a very useful iPad app.

Once you have decided to home-school organisation is the key. The iPad offers apps for scheduling so you can organise your time well and send your students schedules for the day or week if you wish. The Tungle app is useful you can sync it with your existing calendar set up including Outlook, Google Calendar, Apple kcal, entourage for Mac and Lotus Notes. You can send schedules to individual students and store this information on your iPad or home computer. Updated regularly this app is user friendly and free.

Homeschooling students of kindergarten age is a challenge. There are an enormous amount of iPad apps available which are vibrant and informative keeping your tiny students interested by putting the fun back into learning. SuperWhy is a reading iPad app. Your child can play along with the four main characters at the same time practising the alphabet, writing ,spelling, rhyming and reading. To keep the kids interested there is an integrated reward scheme. They can collect up to 50 stickers to place in their sticker book. This is fun iPad app very easy to use and teaches the kids the necessary reading skills they need at kindergarten age.

Math being one of the most essential subjects is not overlooked with iPad apps. A popular app is MathBoard. Designed for children from kindergarten to elementary school children. All types of math problems to solve with optional timer and a save feature. This app has
