So your young children have finally talked you into a new puppy for the family, and now you find yourself searching high and low to find the best pet possible. A medium size dog is probably best suited for younger children, as where a large dog is too big and a small dog runs the risk of getting hurt during play time. This guide is intended to give you a little bit of help in locating the all around perfect dog for your family.
“Bull Dog” - These short-haired dogs have a gregarious personality, they are very loyal and will stay in the family yard, without too much coaching. You will also find that they are a determined and steadfast type dog.
“Cavalier King Charles Spaniel” - Does come from regal beginnings, but you wouldn’t know it to be around one. They appear to have a laid back attitude, highly affectionate and very eager to please. They are great with children and love to play and bounce around.
“Keeshond” - This furry little fox-looking faced dog is obedient, affectionate and has a low dominance attitude about it. They will only require a moderate grooming schedule, which is nice to know, since they seem to have so much hair.
“Samoyed” - Are intelligent, obedient, highly affectionate, they are also excellent companions and love to run and play. This breed is not known to bite either, and tends to be more of a conservative.
“Kai Kens” - Are devoted guardians, very loyal, affectionate especially with children, intelligent animals, which make them easy to train and they seem to remain alert at all times.
“Petit Bassett Griffon Vendeen” - This dog loves to explore and has an adventurous personality, loves children and will keep your child entertained and if the fun starts to slow, no matter to this dog, they have a knack for occupying theirself, with their carefree, independent attitude.
“Portuguese Water Dog” - Loves water of course, affectionate, loves being around people, they are well-mannered, obedient and have a fun loving personality.
“English Springer Spaniel” - Has a gentle nature, affectionate, loves to tumble and play with children and even has such an easy going personality that they can get along with any other dogs easily.
“Shetland Sheepdog” - This dog has all the qualities that a family could want to have in a pet, they have a very gentle temperament, extremely loyal, highly trainable and exemplary intelligence.
There are hundreds of dogs out there that would make a good family pet, and the ones listed above are just a few that have outstanding over-all records on their attitude, intelligence and most importantly how they would interact with young children on a daily basis.
