Advice for first-time parents

Some advice for first time parents would include learning all you can from your doctors, books, and videos for the new baby to be added to your family soon.  Do not be afraid to ask all the questions that you feel are necessary to understanding  bringing a new life into this world as well as learning the most important common do’s and don’ts of raising a normal healthy child.

However, we all know that finding out that you are pregnant can bring on a whole new level of stress in life, is also one to avoid as much as possible while the mother is pregnant and carrying the child.  Believe it or not, an unborn child can feel the stress of the mother while in her womb. Stress can then be transferred to a child when they are born, they can end up with colic.  Colic is very uncomfortable to a newborn, which adds a whole new meaning to the word of new parents not getting any sleep.

Always try to expect the unexpected and you will be better prepared for your new adventure in life with a newborn.  Always, try to maintain a set schedule for your little one which will help in raising your child.  Giving them a sense of calmness and peace, as they get older schedules obviously will change as does parenting with each new adventure that parents have to encounter.

As your child grows it is important that new parents have agreed on a certain set of rules to discipline your child and you both need to maintain those set of rules to help your child as they grow know where their boundaries are in the household.  These rules and by being consistent with these set of rules will teach them not only what is expected on them in their environment, but in the future once they have grown into adults and begin to venture out on their own.  They will understand that discipline is also a part of everyday life.

For the new parents to be, enjoy your little one.  Hold them in your arms and let them feel the comforts of bonding with you as the new parents. It lets them know where they belong, to feel the comforting arms of their parents wrapped around them.

Parents sometimes want to spoil their little ones.  There needs to be a limit on how much you actually hold them.  It is not good to hold a little one all the time, it makes them feel like they can never be left alone or put down.  This starts a whole new set of problems in your lives for both, the parents and the child.  A child needs room to explore and learn with the help of their parents, but, they also need some time alone to find their own space and explore to be able to learn, not unsupervised of course.

Always remember to make them feel loved.
