What is a luau without your best cocktail drinks? Luaus are famous for the fruity and delicious drinks associated with them. Here you will find recipes and tips for making the best cocktail drinks for a luau.

Mai Tai

To get the party jumping at any luau this drink will work great. To make a mai tai you will need:

1 ounce of dark rum

1 ounce light rum

2 tablespoons of orange juice

half an ounce of triple sec

1 teaspoon of lime juice

1 teaspoon of finely granulated sugar

A dash of grenadine.

Mix all the ingredients in a shaker with ice. Pour into a chilled glass over ice and garnish with an orange slice.

Blue Hawaiian

The blue Hawaiian is another popular drink for luau parties.For this drink you will need:

1 ounce of light rum

1 ounce of blue Curacao

1 ounce of cream of coconut

2 ounces of pineapple juice

Shake the ingredients with ice and serve over ice with a slice of pineapple and a cherry for a sweet luau cocktail idea.

Green Eyed Tiki

This drink is a tasty cocktail that looks great too. For this luau favorite you will need

2 ounces of melon liquor

1 ounce vodka

1 ounce triple sec

A splash of seltzer

Mix all of the ingredients except the sprite together in a shaker with ice. Pour the cocktail in a glass over ice and add a splash of seltzer to the top.

Coffee Coconut Calypso

This luau cocktail will get your guests ready to dance and can be made in large batches. You will need:

2 ounces cooled espresso or coffee

1 ounce coconut rum

1 ounce light cream

1 ounce hazelnut liquor

For this tantalizing and energizing luau cocktail simply mix all of the ingredients together and pour over ice. You can garnish with a stick of rock candy to add sweetness and flare. 

Sangria

For an age old favorite with a fruity kick sangria is the best. Sangria is also a great cocktail for luaus because it can be easily made in large batches and looks great in punch bowls. To make this luau drink you need sangria wine and a variety of fruit. Melons, berries, and citrus fruits work very well and will absorb the wine while adding to the flavor. Simply cut the fruit into small pieces and put the fruit with the wine. Allow the concoction to sit for several hours before serving.

Frozen Cocktails

When you think of a luau party you probably image a frosty frozen drink with an umbrella in it. Pina coladas, strawberry daiquiris, banana daiquiris, and frozen margaritas are essential to any luau celebration, and they can easily be made with premade mixes, ice, and a variety of liquors. Just grab your blender and get mixing!

When choosing the right cocktails for your luau it is important to keep the Hawaiian theme in mind, and remember to add pretty little umbrellas and fruit garnish. These delicious drinks will make you and your guests feel great.
