Forcing a father to pay child support is unethical in all aspects of the subject. The federal and state governments have no right to inject themselves into family matters. This is a breach of privacy, as well as a vicious assault on the stability of individual decision making concerning pregnancy in the first place.
The term "Child Support" has, sadly, nothing to do with actually supporting children. It is simply a government program, paid for by you, the American taxpayer, to create jobs for friends of higher power. A father could pay 20 years into the tax system, then be forced to pay child support due to a mother going on welfare, a program created out of your taxpayers dollars. So not only does a father pay for the program, he pays for it again when paying "child support."
The laws concerning child support are utterly ridiculous. No state takes the father into consideration when concocting "formulas" for determining the amount to be paid. Most fathers are left with little to even afford a small place, and he cannot get any "welfare" for himself, therefore either he pays and eventually becomes homeless, jobless, and living on the street, or he simply doesn't pay, letting the payments pile up, hoping that he can find a way to make more money, get a better job, get another job, sell something that means the world to him, or, how the government likes it, access to his bank account so every time he goes to cash a check or deposit money, they take it. The government will take a father's tax return. And, even if you're working and trying to just make ends meet for yourself, they will take a father's drivers license away, leaving him without transportation to work, therefore being forced to lose his job, and the another father spirals down the path of no return. Take a look at the MA child support page, they literally brag about the fact that they have taken more than 20,000 drivers licenses away from father. Deadbeats. A term allowed for some reason; a term that couldn't be further from the truth.
Sure, there are fathers who abandon their woman and child, and they are simply evil for doing so. Fathers like that do not deserve to be fathers, and perhaps something should be done about those types of individuals. It is these types who fueled the creation of the child support industry, ruining for the good fathers out there.
Child support laws are written without regard to the well-being of the father. That term is never heard in any language regarding this subject,
