Every Snooze Button
capsize the steady earth ship
with the ready terse quip
placed in just the right spot
left to grow where others cannot
in the infertile hearts
of the endless disgruntled

inspired by fear
perpetually perplexed
by the here, the now

for many years after the initial surrender
the habitual pretender still knows not
of "all for naught"
all the more caught and left denying dying or dead
in woe's wretched web
in causality’s co-conspiratorial conundrum
but then someone wakes up
then someone shakes up
this sick
sleepy world
