Do stepparents get enough credit?

Stepparents don't get enough credit. Stepparents are usually labeled as the bad person. They are always blamed for the break up. The children usually always hate the stepparent. They feel their taking the parent's place. My daughter has never given her step father credit for anything. Even though he was always there. And she doesn't even get along with her real father. My husband came into my life and I had 4 small children to raise and he was loving and became their father. Very few men would even attempt that situation no matter how much they loved the woman. He is one of a kind. Stepparents are a real important part of families today. There are so many divorces and break ups in the world today. But some people are old fashioned and don't believe in stepparents. We all know it doesn't work to stay together for the children. It takes a unique and caring person to be a stepparent. A special person to be a true stepparent. Step parenting is a difficult task. You always feel like you have to prove yourself. You may even think your always in the middle. My 3 sons have always thought of their stepfather as their only father. I'm so thankful for my husband. It took some love and understanding to make it work. A stepparent should be allowed to be their own special self. They shouldn't be compared to someone else. There is room in a person's life for parents and stepparents. A true stepparent won't be labeled as a stepparent. People must accept their lives for how they are and deal with it. Having a stepparent doesn't mean you hate your real parent. And it doesn't mean you love them any less. We need to give credit to that stepparent for being there in time of need. They are sharing their life with for a reason and purpose. We really should give them credit if the real parent doesn't want to even be a parent. It's not fair to automatically hate a person or not give them a chance to try to be there for you. A relationship needs time to develop and grow into something special.
