People visit and fall in love with San Diego, California for the sunshine.  The beach gets a lot of attention, but there is another great way to enjoy this place. San Diego boasts over one hundred parks for residents and visitors to enjoy. Whether you want to spend a couple of hours playing at the playground with your children, or spend the weekend camping with family or friends, these parks are an excellent way to have some outdoor fun and soak up some of that famous sunshine.

If you are not familiar with San Diego, you may not realize what a huge place it is. There is a huge variety of parks spread all over San Diego County. From parks right on the coast, to far inland, it can be difficult to decide where to go. Some of the choice might depend on where you live or where you are staying, but it might be worth your time to explore other areas and try visiting parks in other areas. Weather in different parts of San Diego varies, so be sure to check the forecast for where you are visiting that day and dress accordingly. Summers in inland San Diego can be very hot, and on a day that you might be able to comfortably play outside on the coast, it may be too hot to enjoy an inland park on that same day.

Next, you should plan your individual needs. Are you planning a barbeque? If so you will want to choose a park with cooking areas available. If you have small children, you will likely choose a park with a playground. There are parks with spray grounds for children to enjoy on a hot day, parks with a variety of athletic fields, dog parks, parks that offer fishing, and many other options. If you are planning a special event, you might consider a park for your location. With beautiful weather all year round, a park in San Diego can be a great location for a birthday party, family picnic, even a wedding, any time of the year. Be sure to  check the website;  it provides a wealth of information regarding making reservations for picnic areas, details about each park, and the location of each park.
