Spend wisely to save money brings a few ideas to mind as I share them with you below:
1. When withdrawing money from your bank account, either go into the bank to the teller window to make your deposit or withdrawal transactions or use the walk-up ATM. If you want to save money while banking never use the drive up ATM to deposit or withdraw money. Every time you use the drive up ATM, a $2.50 fee or more is charged. There is $2 fee charged by the bank for you using that drive up ATM which in total can amount to $4.50 to $5 per individual transaction. Even when you use the ATM for an inquiry of your account balance, a fee is charged. So, when you think about using the drive up ATM to save time, you may save a little time but you really aren't saving money.
2. When traveling on a major bus line (Greyhound, etc.) if you know that you are planning a trip within a week or two, purchase your ticket at least 7 days in advance and save. For instance, I'm planning a trip to Alabama and I'll be leaving in 7 days from today's date, I'll purchase my ticket today. If my ticket cost $90 one way, by purchasing it 7 days in advance, it will only cost me $68. I will actually save $22. Now, that is wise spending.
3. Sometimes we get a little behind on bills and we need a cash advance for emergency situations. Instead of going to a business to get a cash advance, borrow from a family member or friend if possible. It would save you some money if you made an agreement with a family member or friend to pay them back at half the price it would cost you at a cash advance center. If you build a trust system with your family and friends where you can borrow money when you have an emergency, the money you save can be enormous. When you start borrowing money from a cash advance center, it becomes addictive in its self. So, a word to the wise, find an alternative to borrowing money from a cash advance center.
4. Another way to spend wisely in order to save money is to pay your bills on time. If you have the responsibility of paying utility bills, and most of us do, pay your bills on time to prevent being charged a late fee. Money used to pay a late fee can be used towards another bill.
5. Also, when paying bills, make sure you understand the charges when you have several bill payment methods to choose from. For instance:
a. Paying on line - it's free
b. Paying by phone - a fee is charged
c. Paying by check - a fee is charged
d. Paying by credit card - a fee is charged
