I think the best way to stay connected with teens in a computer age would be to come up with ideal things you can do together maybe on-line, cause teens spend most of their time on-line anyway.
One way of doing this would be to find an on-line game that is the latest and learn to play it. Once comfortable with the same challenge your teenage to beat you in the game. Make this a beginning of your friendship with your teen. Once you have got the teen's attention start trying other links as well, to do this keep a track of the web sites your child goes through on a daily basis but don't get too obvious. Cause if that happens you are only going to send your teen away cause teenage is a age of suspicion.
Another thing a parent could do would be to browse the net for the latest topics that teenage talk about like for example gizmo's and find as much details possible and offer to buy your teenage the same. In fact it would help to go shopping with them showing them where you get these gizmo's. It is a good idea to try these things.
