The growing movement to suppress Christianity

by Eric Brewer

Christians by way of pure numbers have more influence and control more actions of the population of the United States than any other religion. So where is the suppression and conspiracy? Just because Jewish folks or atheists don’t think that ‘religion specific’ icons have a place in ANY public forum including schools and parks (myself included), does not mean that they want to get rid of the entire religion

What do you think the reaction would be if a practicing Wiccan went to his or her employer and asked for Lughnasadh (one of the “Greater Sabbaths”) off to celebrate, putting aside the fact that there is a good chance they never told their employer they were Wiccan in the first place for fear of being chastised. Would the request be met with the same reaction as a Christian who asked for time off on Ash Wednesday? Would the Wiccan, whose beliefs are still publicly labeled as mythology and often ridiculed, be given the same leeway to practice his faith or would they be forced as some Muslims are (for observing their daily prayers) to choose between keeping a job and what they believe is the will of their deity.

The only holidays federally recognized with school vacations, three day weekends and total tolerance are Christian ones. There are no federally mandated three day weekends for Hanukkah for the Jews or Ashura for the Muslims and many, who are practitioners of what is unfortunately called the religious minority, have to use vacation or sick days just to celebrate these holy times.

As a child, the working model of America was taught over and over again in the schools. The petty battles of whether or not the word (not ‘word of’) God should be in the pledge of allegiance or not was a battle for our parents and nothing more than a possible topic for a social studies paper for us, provided our teacher would beallowed to approve the topic.

As I grew older I began to see just how bias and non-tolerant America really was and how the so-called righteous leaders who attend church every Sunday and use biblical passages to determine how they vote on everything from the budget to driving laws
