Ways to show appreciation for your husband

Often we think wives are the ones who feel unappreciated but it’s very easy for our husbands to feel this way too. They are often so busy with work, fatherhood and taking care of the yard that we may feel there isn’t anything we can do to adequately express our thanks to them. Fortunately there are numerous ways you can demonstrate to your husbands that he is not taken for granted.

Write your husband a note and leave it on his steering wheel or by his morning coffee. Call him by his pet name and say you’re looking forward to when he gets home from work. You could also write a short joke that you think he will like. Or, send him naughty text messages to liven up his day.

If you really enjoy writing, you may want to write your husband a poem.  It can be funny or sentimental but it should clearly express just how much you love and cherish him. We think that men don’t appreciate the sentimental stuff but that’s just not true.

There is no place for jealousy in a marriage so cheer your husband on through all of his successes. If you are genuinely happy when he accomplishes something significant, he will know it. As an added bonus, he will be more inclined cheer you on when it’s your turn for success.

Make him his favorite meal at least once or twice a month and serve it over candlelight. Use your fine china and put on your sexiest dress.

Treat him to dinner out at his favorite restaurant. He’ll feel appreciated that someone else is picking up the tab for a change.

Take photographs of him when he’s working in the garage or fixing something around the house. He may feel like these little jobs go unnoticed so make a big deal out of them. Another ideas is to take before and after pictures of your home renovation projects and feature them in a page of your scrapbook album.

Get out the bath salts, nail clippers and foot file….it’s time to give your husband a pedicure. Your hubby may not like to admit it, but he likes to be pampered now and then. Give him the full treatment including a foot soak, a foot and calf massage, a nail trim and a moisturizing treatment. His feet take a beating every day so treat them right.

Put together a scrapbook page of some of your favorite memories together. If possible, include pictures of the place you met, your wedding day, the birth of your child and other memorable moments. If you like, mount the pictures onto a bulletin board that he can post it up on the wall behind his desk or in his workshop.

Physical intimacy is important to your husband and he doesn’t always want to be the one to make the first move. So, pick a night when you are both completely free and go out of your way to create a romantic atmosphere. Chill a bottle of wine. Light candles and dim the lights. Lastly, put on some lingerie you know your husband loves and see where the night leads.

Make a point to remember special days like birthdays and anniversaries. For major birthdays like 40th or 50th, take him out to a ball game or the theatre, depending on his tastes. Or, invite all of his closest friends, family and co-workers over for a surprise celebration. He’ll truly appreciate all the effort you went to.

From writing him a love note to making him his favorite meal, there are many ways to express to your husband just how much you appreciate him. If you do at least one small thing each week, he is sure to feel treasured and cared for. Remember, you are only limited by your own imagination. And never underestimate the value of a simple thank-you.
